Obscure or reveal

A saint sleeps not on soft beds...

I have been playing with a new (to me) medium- crackling medium!
On paper it dosn't have the same effect as it does on wood but it's been interesting to play with.
Crackling medium works by shrinking and cracking the top layer of paint, revealing the colour beneath.
This photo is just part of the A3 size work I did ..the rest wasn't quite so appealing but it was all about the expermentation so I don't mind.I think once mastered the technique could have quite a lot of potential for adding something different to collages, I seem to find it hard sticking to just glue and paper!

This is a photo of my eldest at the Jim Cooper exhibition, the kids got to make these awseome masks! Jim's work can be seen behind her.

That's a very interesting medium, but it didn't seem to have effected the quality of the paper, which you would assume that it would. Interesting picture with those eyes.

Your daughter made a great mask. I thought it was a piece of artwork at first. She's probably got your genetics. You know, the apple doesn't fall far...

Crap, your daughter looks just like me - where you promiscous and living in NYC about nine months before she weas born? Did you hang out in a bar near Grammercy tavern?

Do you remember a guy saying, "I am a misunderstood (cough, cough) artist with two maybe three weeks to live, can you buy me a tequila, baby cakes."

That's a very interesting medium, but it didn't seem to have effected the quality of the paper, which you would assume that it would. Irene must be another fricking clairvoyant.

I do like it and the composition moves well (also like much the worssa you left)- the red elements also work well with the background color of your page - this is somethign to consider - how the red imnpacts your peices or pieces - who can smell that word.

I like what's happening here and the fact that you're reaching for something that isn't quite within your grasp ... yet. When it comes to obscure & reveal though, don't forget that you can lay down some paint and then scrape it away. All in all, this is a path I believe you should pursue for a while.

LOL John, you have me laughing out loud here.

I like the new medium, it has a very mysterious effect, especially with the eyes revealed through a mist-like effect.

The mask is great fun. His art looks colourful, exhuberant and kid-friendly. I bet your daughter loves this mask as it is outrageous!
