Dare I say it again??
I'm finished...I think!
The owner is dropping by tonight to give it a final once over before I seal it.
I must admit that I had to really con myself into getting back into this painting! AB's have stolen my artistic heart.
I have tagged all the tuscany postings so they are nice and easy to find should anyone be interested in reading about the trials and triumphs I experienced with this painting!
The top painting with the blue sky is the first version, the bottom is the current (and I hope final!) version. I really like the person who I did this for and I hope she will be happy this time! I will probably never love this painting but I will give myself a pat on the back for having stuck at it! lol.
It does atleast feel good to have one less thing on my "to do" list and to have made someone else happy (I hope!)

Certainly does. It has caught the feeling of luminous light there, and I like the predominance of burnt orange, which is a typical Tuscan colour. All the houses are appropriately Tuscan too, as are the trees. Great detailed work on the fields, I think I remember you put a lot of work into those!

Well - GREAT!! I wasn't sure if I was going to like the new one because I liked the old one ... but it is wonderful and I like it even better.

I liked the original a lot - it had a folk quality to it and was upbeat, the way I imagine you are with your children as the kite lifts.
The latest transformation is more "modern" and I see traces of S. Dali up top - the lake dips down a slope and transcends seeking a level - hinting of the Dali painting where the clock melts.
The newer paintign also pancakes and this two dimensionality makes it seem more abstract - thus, modern.
If the client prefers moder art - if she has a modern leather couch - she will be very pleased.
My two cents, if they have cents in New Zealand.
A few weeks ago I saw a movie on TV about an American woman who moved to Tuscany when her husband left her and it did remind me of your painting.
Yes! I think you got it girl! She is going to love it or I will eat my hat (which I need very much now that I got my hair cut too short)!
You sure put a lot of effort into this painting, even when you stopped loving it. I always thought the original version was good, but I think this final version is fine too.
I am sort of indignant for your sake, because your client was so demanding and couldn't accept the artwork as it was.
I hope you get a good fee for this, as you really deserve it, you've gone over and beyond the call of duty.
Hi Lisa, new visitor and I'm glad I stopped by. I am awestruck by the first rendition of this painting. I like the folk feel and the blue sky. Your final is still quite lovely and different as it depicts more landscape. I'd say it reminds me of my Tuscan holiday. Great job.

Does she want it now depicted as Italy during the Axis occupation?
Commissions can be tough to do. But I must say I like what you've accomplished here. It has a completely different energy to it, and while I know you are happy to have completed it, I'd say you also created something very fine.
