I opened up the flower press today to see how the flowers I put in before the op were looking (thanks Shari for the reminder!) and I was quite surprised by the results of the dried Kowhai Flowers...or should that be Fallen, dried Kowahi? I didn't dare pick flowers from a protected plant! Honest!
Daisies, forget-me-nots and Kowhai stamens....they went in greenish and came out brown! The yellow kowhai's were a very strong, fresh yellow when pressed and they too went brown. I am not really happy with them (the petal) but I do like the stamens! Unfortunately due my family commitments I have missed most of the flowering season and I havn't had the opportunity to collect enough fresh flowers to make more dye. I will be making this a priority for next year as I really feel this is an unfinished project!

Art by a tv. Wonderful post. Happy 300.
Glad to see your art and your ducks....
Ut oh! You have me wondering if I've got some things being pressed! If so, I can't remember where they are. :O
love the daisies and flower petals..
years ago I used to paint watercolor landscapes and they often had daisies in them.
what fun work! lovely...
Happy 300th!!
Love the bird. It's full of attitude.
Happy 300th post!
Your bird turned out quite well. You should be pleased with yourself. You may want to get a book on embroidery stitches and vary them a bit, if you think that is necessary. They are such fun things to combine, paper and thread.
Your pressed flowers are lovely and I'm sure you will find a good use for them. Heavy books do a good job too, don't they? And some tissue paper?
No no...keep with the straight, running stitch for your collages! Yes to learning more stitches, but NO to altering the stitch, as you are doing a series that needs to keep its harmony.
The fantail is fan..bloody..tastic, Lisa. I can't WAIT to see it incorporated into your next collage.
I am so loving this series, I am saving up my money to buy the one you put up for sale in Dale's online collage shop.
Oh...you're not adding the fantail to the ICE? I think you should!
happy 300! and i adore your new "feathered" friend!! and your daises! how incredibly sweet!! forget me nots have always been a favorite of mine since i was a little girl. i should plant some here. :) thank you for the sweet reminder AND your beautiful photos!
Happy 300!
Your feathered friend is a delight in every way! I covet it.
I know what you mean about not collecting enough flowers of the season; I feel that way with my photos. Mother Nature is so sweet to give us another try, year after year.
Lovely post all the way around.
