ICE 2010 #4 On loan

International Collage Exchange 2010
Series: Chain Reaction
Title: On loan

Teasel lino cut on coffee dyed paper, teasel ofcut on painted paper, hand made paper, library issue pocket, paper clips, thread, brads.

'On loan' reflects my belief that this earth is not ours. We are a part of this earth and it is part of us, we do not own it, it is simply ours to enjoy while we are here. In keeping with my chain reaction theme I am making reference to the fact that what we do here set's in place a chain reaction that alters the environment that we leave for future generations.
I have enjoyed making this, I was challenging myself to create something that was different yet not to different from what I usually do. For now what I am doing is really working for me but I don't want to get to comfortable in it! Sometimes when I try to make a change from what I normally do I don't end up liking what I have done, it dosn't reflect me and I find it uncomfortable. Not so this time, I think there is enough of my regular elements and colours for me to still feel like this is...me and that is a good feeling!

You've done it again, Lisa, simplicity and elegance in one fell swoop. Be pleased with yourself. You've done well.

I like the concept and love the library card-- weathered and worn-- with the paper clips.

Lisa - you're on a roll! I love it to pieces. How could they possibly keep geting better? I'm onto number three of my ICE series. I'll post these up tomorrow.
PS. Jo sadly declined the invite to join our round robin due to other commitments. The good news is, I've asked Kim from Merlin's Musings (see my "Blog's I Love" list for her link). She is an amazing mixed media artist and extraordinary art-journaler. She's an Aussie too! So she's not too far away before we have to send off to the States!

Fantastic...love the simplicity of colors, stitching, reminds me of layers of bark. oh my now I'm seeing your stitched feathered from from post below. Very cool. We do need to protect our earth, yes we are merely passing thru.

Another lovely piece, Lisa. You've piqued my curiosity when you mention feeling uncomfortable with work that stretches the envelope of your comfort zone. Are there any of those you're willing to share here?
