Strange Fixation

I developed an urge to photograph these white balls of cotton string on the black background. No rhyme of reason. No real purpose other than 'just because' but sometimes that simple way of thinking is enough.

As often as we're able to begin with an idea or concept in mind, sometimes it's exactly as you say: an urge. It's important for an artist to follow such urges and I believe that this sort of inspired work is a search for connection, for meaning. There are times when we never actually find either one and that's okay too. I love this image by the way. It's well composed and absolutely striking!
