Update

There's still a bit to go on this but I am well past the half way point!
The water has taken a long time to get right. First I did it green but it was too dark so I added blue but that made it quite patchy which in turn made the sea look too choppy..then I added turquiose and oh yuck- lets not go there!! So...5 hours later I have a rather simple looking blue sea:) Sometimes it just goes like that!
The boats in the water arn't finished yet, they need masts and booms and breaking water, possibly buoys as well. The rocks arn't completed yet either, there needs to be more and they need shadows. I may lighten the hills ...I am happy with the progress made over the last 2 days though. I had one of those beautiful moments earlier where I was painting and the brush was just gliding smoothly accross the canvas and it suddenly occured to me how good it felt to be in the act of painting. What I was painting at the moment was irrelavent... it just felt so completely natural to be doing it. Gotta love those moments (especially after 5 hours at sea!)

It's so much fun to see this painting progress. I like the way it is looking so far and can't wait to see the outcome. You are very talented.

I love this painting - it is quite minimalist like your Tuscany painting and captures essenses very strongly. Like the clean colours of the boats and the sea.
