New painting

As you can see I've started a new painting! This is the stage it is at after around 8 hours painting.
I drew it up the other day but was too tired to paint! There's 5 boats here, or atleast there will be and because drawing dosn't come naturally I spent a realllly long time labouring over the sketches! Just sketches but crucial for making sure the rear of my boats don't look like they are sticking up in the air -as I usually make them look! lol . I am trying:) Anyway... there are 2 moored out to see and the 3 dinghies on the shore. The middle dinghy is almost done (except for the shadow underneath and the rope) but the far left boat still needs more work and I obviously need to start the 3rd!
The dark corners are where the rocks will go and the hills and sea havn't even been started.
Usually sunsets come together easily for me but I decided to use a new medium for blending wet on wet instead of water like I usually use. BAD idea. It was terrible so I ended up spending an hour or so fixing it! Ah well, you live and learn!
It's not as orangey as it appears here, both the sand and sky are much softer and that makes the white boats seem less 'sharp' than they look here. If it's not too windy I will take it outside next time I photograph it.

How exciting to watch you start a new project. I hope you will keep us posted on the process. It will be interesting to see it take shape, so please keep taking photographs. Inquiring minds want to know!

okay 3rd times a charm... first I closed window thought I was done, next clicked comments and got a new window erasing my old. I think I've got the curse.

Lisa, I love seeing the progression of these paintings, this one is really coming along. Are you painting from a photograph? I keep saying I should post work in progress and then my feeble mind kicks in and I forget!

Looking forward to seeing more.
