Finished!

Here it is...Tuscany 2, finished! It's now hanging on the owner's wall and will hopefully be a nice suprise for her when she gets home. She has no idea it's done or what it looks like.
I am proud of this, even though it is painting for decoration rather than for the purpose of conveying an idea or thought. It's wall art as opposed to anything with real depth but that's ok. It's human nature to decorate and beautify and not everyone wants a reminder of the sometimes poor state of the world on their wall. There's a time and a place for that sort of expression I guess and this time is not it!
I learnt a lot from doing this painting, good practical knowledge that will see me right in future paintings. In my last post the shadows were shorter, indicating that the suns position in the sky was quite high. Yet, as my husband pointed out the fact this is a sunset dictates that the sun's low in the sky and there for the shadows should be long not short. I learnt more about colours that bring things forward or make things appear further away, I knew it in theory now I have learnt it. As I said, good practical knowledge!
I am glad this wasn't a long drawn out painting, 30 hours or so from blank canvas to the wall. I'm fired up not worn out and already I'm thinking...what's next?

It's lovely, Lisa. You did a good job on it. I like the longer shadows too.

Like your use of blue in this one on roof, as shaddows and on hills.

Good movement in composition.

Good work.

Hi Lisa,

I am delighted that this one flowed and juiced you up rather than drain ed you!

I wouldn't be quite to quick to call it only decorative .. I like it a lot!!

You're too modest Lisa. It is a beautiful painting. And really, when you get right down to it, ALL art is for decoration now isn't it. It's meant to be seen. And all art says something. You've expressed yourself very well in this piece, I really like it. It almost has a surrealist quality to it I can't describe. But I feel its calm. So very, very nice, bravo!

Bellisimo! Magnifico!! I'd love this hanging on my wall.

...and in the end does it really matter how high the sun is or how long/or short the shadows need to be. It's a beautiful painting.

WAIT, I WANT A SWIMMING POOL AND SOME FEMININE CHEERLEADERS....DOING LOMO SUMMERSAULTS WHEN IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THEY CRACK THEIR BACKS.

I think this is my favourite of your paintings. I love the compostion, and the way the painting is shaped by the lines in it and perpective. You have also caught the colours and warm light in a minimalist way. I have posted some blurry pictures of me and Tuscany on my blog as you have got me thinking about it!

Lisa, I missed visiting. I have been away for too long but now that I am back I see how many wonderful paintings and collages you have created. This is one beautiful painting. The perspective is impeccable and the color choices are just perfect! Bravo! Happy Easter!
