This painting was done on commission last Christmas. I still love it. It is ME. I was lucky to be able to have the freedom to paint in my own way for this painting, the colour choices were mine as was the layout. I only had to incorporate the cross and the wording. It was a great experience being able to paint this and I am definately going to do more..I think it was nessecary for me to stray in order to learn where 'home' really is.
Moral of the story? GRAB all the opportunities you get with BOTH hands but don't forget where your FEET are!

Hi Lisa,

Very nice painting! I am so glad you got to paint just what you wanted - with a few constraints ... and even got paid!! Yah!

Beautiful. I like the strong images and colours. I love your portrayal of the mountain sides as there is something quite spiritual being at the top of a mountain, apart from seeing all the lovely views and sunsets. It takes you out of your own concerns and makes you see the bigger picture, as it were.

I also like the image of the cross and the winter trees. They are quite strong, stark images (but beautiful and dignified) and they hold out the promise of something better through endurance, as in the springtime when the tree gets its leaves again and in the Christian message that Jesus died for the good of all.
